Dozens of youths arriving at the building of the National Library of Belarus on Thursday evening with pillows were arrested by police. A youth organization called Historyka (Historical Studies) intended to stage a mass pillow fight there to mark the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Grunwald that took place on July 15, 1410, with the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Litva (Lithuania) beating the knights of the Teutonic Order. |

The Observatory for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders, a joint programme of the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) and the World Organisation Against Torture (OMCT), undertook a visit of Mr. Evgeny Zhovtis in prison. Mr. Zhovtis is a founding member and the Director of the Kazakhstan International Human Rights and the Rule of Law Bureau, as well as a member of the Council of Experts of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODHIR) under the Organisation on Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in charge of freedom of assembly[1]. |

On 27-28 of May in Moscow on base of the Center of History and Cultural Anthropology of the African Institute in the Russian Academy of Science took place the International seminar "Racism, xenophobia, discrimination. How we have seen them ... ". During two days participants of the event were invited to consider the different sides of the same social problem named "racism, xenophobia and discrimination". May 23 after 2 am Udmurt followers of Nazi ideology tried to set apartment door on fire, which is home to a famous anti-fascist activist Oleg Serebrennikov. As activist told, neo-Nazis have made 11 shots from airguns in the balcony glass of his apartment, then they threw to the balcony burning old matter and paper. Fire damaged the things lying on the balcony, and caused severe smoke in the apartment. Fearing for his life and the lives of his relatives, Oleg Serebrennikov called firefighters. |
