Black Sea NGOs have an opportunity to win a €5,000 EU grant by participating in an award for excellence in promoting regional cooperation in the Black Sea region, organised by the Representation of the European Commission in Romania.
The aim of the award is to enhance the profile of the Black Sea Synergy and its role in proposing a regional, cooperative approach in the region as well as the multilateral dimension of EU external policies.
The award is addressed to NGOs registered in the wider Black Sea region (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Republic of Moldova, Romania, Russian Federation, Turkey, Ukraine), and involved in actions impacting on more countries in the region.
The selection criteria are:
•proven commitment to cooperation in the Black Sea region;
•projects that increase awareness of regional cooperation and European policies;
•involving multiple actors (NGOs, other civil society groups, academia, mass media, local and national authorities, international organizations, donors etc.);
•innovative projects, with an European value added as well as a multiplier effect;
•visible impact.
The deadline for the receipt of nominations is 30 July.
The ceremony in which the award will be formally granted will take place during the Black Sea NGO Forum, 9-11 September 2010, in Constanta, Romania.
The Black Sea Synergy is a programme developed by the EU, with a number of concrete initiatives looking at areas like transport, energy, the environment, maritime management, fisheries, migration, and the fight against organised crime, information society and cultural cooperation.
