International seminar “Overcoming the crisis of European non-violent methods. The philosophy and practice” organized by the Georgian NGO “Droni” took place in March in the Georgian town Bakuriani.

The event was visited by representatives of various organizations from Latvia, Sweden, Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Austria, Turkey and Armenia.

As examples of conflicts and their resolution, trainers from different countries told about bright civil protests, actions, pickets, marches and demonstrations which took place during the last hundred years on Earth.

Head of the organization "Droni" Giorgi Kikalishvili noted that international events are important not only for the education of young people from different countries, “they, above all, contribute to strengthening international relations at the personal level”.

He noted that a lot of attention during the seminars conducted after the August War of 2008 is given to the conflict that exists between Georgia and Russia, as this issue is still on the agenda. For example, to go to training, participants have to fly from Moscow to Tbilisi via Kiev, Yerevan or Minsk, because direct flights to Georgia, against which the Russian president has no objection, still do not operate. In addition, the Russians need a visa to go to Georgia, while citizens of Ukraine and Armenia can do without this formality.

Organizers and local residents state that the majority of the citizens of Georgia are critical to the actions of Russian authorities, relating to the recognition of independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
