We, correspondents and participants of the International Network – Youth Human Rights Movement (YHRM), invite you to take part in creating the Civic Journalism Network.

The Network is supposed to become a lively communicative ground, the space for discussing urgent social problems as well as the opportunity for implementing common projects in the sphere of civic journalism. We are eager to create new alternative media-spaces that would enable effective transmission of civil news, journalistic and analytical texts of high quality.

We invite professional journalists and those motivated to improve in this sphere and ready to teach and to study journalistic skills, as well as those who find it important to explain difficult things in simple and open language, to use modern media technologies effectively. And those who aren’t used to believe in facts as “obvious”, but are ready to organize discussions on socially significant topics and take part in them. And also those who are ready to work with us on creating Network documents and artifacts, and to make it possible for other like-minded persons to join the initiative.

Keen interest in modern social problems together with a sincere desire to take part in solving them, and not necessary the level of journalistic skills, will be regarded as the passing-card for entering the informational space we are creating.

We are sure that one of the basic professional skills for a journalist is a constant need for studying. That is why we are aimed at creating the cycles of workshops, open lectures and discussing urgent modern problems (the list is still open!). The themes of the events will be formed out of urgent information requests of the Network participants, and are supposed to be directly dependent on being ready to take an active part in their organizing.

What can we see as common grounds for the Network participants?

* Common interests in the professional/close-to-professional activity as well as defending these interests;
* Desire for experience exchange, discussing, tackling the problems, reaching some common strategies and changing the world around together;
* Aspiration for finding the circle of like-minded and like-spirited people that would provide with understanding and support.

Today we refrain from offering particular topics and participation forms, but we want to invite you –all those who have already stated or is has declared their participation in the initiative – to the common discussion of the Network options as well as the ideas and principles that should become its basis.
