From March 24 till April 2 at the European Youth Centre (Budapest, Hungary) regular training for trainers in human rights with the participation of young people was held. This is one of the key events in human rights education for youth in the Council of Europe.

36 young people from different countries and cultures (from Italy, Portugal and Germany to Russia, Pakistan, Turkey and Azerbaijan) gathered for a week to feel the strong points and sorrows of being a Human Rights trainer.

Participation in such a training, conducted by the Directorate of Youth and Sport of the Council of Europe, is the best way to explore approaches to human rights education within the Council of Europe.

The main objectives of the workshops are to involve into the sphere of training in human rights as many young people as possible: trainers, youth leaders and activists, Scouts and representatives of the national councils of youth organizations - «more HREners (HRE - human rights educators) - good and different".

Besides, such training is an opportunity to learn at first hand and try in action the most popular manual on human rights education in the space of Europe - Compass.

"For all those who are involved in human rights education it is good opportunity to get acquainted with one of the largest schools in the space of Europe, to learn about current trends and tendencies and try to evaluate its pros and cons, - states Maria Gordeeva, a member of the Coordinating Council of the International Youth Human Rights Movement, member of the Training, - For those who work with the complex conflict groups or in disadvantaged areas of conflict and are constantly faced with the pain and horrors of wars and other human rights violations, the training is to be tricky - an important place at the training is given to fun and lively manner that does not always look adequately when it comes to the serious problems. And for any trainer it's important to go through such training and decide the way it suits his value system coordinates".

The human rights education and awareness-raising is a never-ending process (every year trainers and educators face new people who need the knowledge and conversation on values). But is it possible to evaluate its effectiveness? And could we talk about human rights education as a separate - successful project or a failure? Future meeting of the community of young educators is a good opportunity to think it over.
