The Russian anti-Discrimination initiative (RaDi) published an alternative report entitled “On the realization of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination in the Russian Federation”.
The RaDi uniting such organizations as the Human Rights Centre “Memorial” (Alexander Osipov as the main author of the report), the Centre “SOVA”, the anti-Discrimination centre of the Saint Petersburg “Memorial”, the Foundation “For Civil Society” supported by the Centre for Development of Democracy and Human Rights, already submitted the report to the UN Committee for elimination of all forms of racial discrimination. The report will be reviewed together with the Russian governmental report at the end of July. On the basis of these reports and other disposable materials, the discussion with the Russian government delegation and the briefings of Russian and international NGOs the Committee will adopt its Concluding remarks and recommendations.
It is worth mentioning that 5 years ago the analogical report was issued by Russian NGOs. It was supported by more than 40 organizations, and this considerably contributed to accepting this report by the UN Committee as reflecting the viewpoint of a wide range of human rights organizations.
The Committee appreciated it as highly legitimate.
