At the beginning of March a project of Student Embassy was launched. The pioneers were three Ukranian higher schools: National Aviation University (Kyiv), National University ‘Lviv Polytechnic’ (Lviv), Gorbachevsky Ternopil State Medical University (Ternopil).

Student embassy is a group of students which represents international students’ community at the University. The main task of it is to include international students’ communities into the hosting society and support youth leadership education in and across minority communities.

The functions of the student embassy are the following:

  • to deal with foreign students’ adaptation and integration into Ukrainian society;
  • to set dialogue with administration and student self-government of the University;
  • to lobby for membership of foreign students in student self-governmental bodies;
  • to raise awareness about rights of foreign students and how to protect them;
  • to promote intercultural dialogue and teaching leadership skills.

Among future plans are those to get the status of student organization with its office to provide consultations and other services at the University, to introduce position of the Student Ambassador, to launch hotline of the “Student embassy”, to establish network of Student embassies in Universities all over Ukraine, to expand network of Student Embassies to neighbouring EU and non-EU countries.

Project “Without Borders”, NGO Center «Social Action» (Kyiv), Erasmus Mundus Program (Poland), etc are the initiators of the project under support of British Council in Ukraine.
