On 2 March 2011 in the premises of the Kyiv City Migration Service (KMS), right after receiving a rejection in refugee status from that authority, a refugee Denis Solopov was detained by police. Migration Service where refugees are supposed to come and ask for protection turned out to be a trap, where they are caught on demand of their persecutors.

On February, 22th second criminal case was begun. The case concerns a participation in mass disturbances of the 19th of December in 2010. Artem Breus and Ivan Gaponov are citizens of Russia. Before they had already administrative offences for uncoordinated public action’s participation. They are charged with crime’s commission concerned the Article 293 of Criminal Code of Belarus Republic. Judicial session was in the district court of Moscow in Minsk.

 On February 17th in Minsk the first criminal trial on the case of participation in the riots at the Independence Square on December 19th took place. According to paragraph 2 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code, the penalty for this deed can range from three to eight years of imprisonment. The trial of the accused Vasily Parfenkov passed in a record quick time – within one day the court considered the evidence, listened to the arguments of the prosecution and defense and awarded a sentence (four years in penal colony).

The nongovernmental International Steering Committee of the Community of Democracies (ISC/CD) joins with numerous other governmental and non-governmental organizations in condemning the recent electoral process in Belarus, which was full of manipulations and outright fraud and culminated in a brutal police repression of peaceful demonstrators in the central Government Square of Minsk on Sunday evening. Dozens of people protesting the official results of the vote and journalists were severely beaten; more than six hundred were detained, including seven out of ten presidential candidates. Detainees have been treated in a degrading and inhuman way, have been repeatedly beaten in custody, and have had no access to health care, food and water.

 As the consequences of recent political uprising; civil unrest, instability and lack of state security continues to threaten civil life in Tunisia, Italy has called upon EU and Frontex to secure its borders from those who seek to escape from these fearful conditions.
People fleeing Tunisia have mainly arrived at the Sicilian Islands, with Lampedusa receiving 5031 migrants in the first 12 days of January, according to figures provided by Italian authorities. Figures of 4000-5000 from the beginning of January until present are widely reported by the media and NGOs. Italy, underlining that this is not simply a national problem but that of the EU has called for the European community to tackle the crisis, what Interior Minister Maroni has referred to as a "biblical exodus".

In 2010 numerous organisations in 47 European Countries joined the annual European-wide Action Week Against Racism. Thousands of people all over Europe were united in their fight for a Europe without discrimination, intolerance, racism and nationalism - promoting diversity, mutual respect and understanding.

The 20 years Anniversary Meeting on 20 years of Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly (HCA) was held from October 1 to 3 in Istanbul (Turkey).

Liberal legislation guaranteeing fundamental rights and freedoms has been one of the most important achievements of Georgia throughout its transition to democracy. However, what remained problematic was implementation of those laws in practice.
Impunity for violating human rights and freedoms was a long-established practice in Georgia.1 Human Rights Defenders have documented dozens of such cases in recent years and continuously called upon the relevant authorities to eliminate these trends, undermining the very foundations of society.
What followed, however, are not the actions to address the systemic problems, but amending the laws and shrinking the scope of rights and freedoms guaranteed by the national legal system.
